At the Framingham Centre Nursery School, 5-year-old Laelah Smethurst, known as the frog queen among her peers in the Chipmunk class, emerges from the pond with a frog in each hand, June 8, 2023. The nature-based program at the nursery school has students outside 90 eprcent of the time. "They learn about science., said director Jacey Norton. "We want the kids to be naturalists, to learn that all animals have purpose. They learn how to identify poison ivy. They learn how to be safe in the woods. Outdoor education teaches social and emotional skills, balance and core strength," Norton said.
